Review by Stephen Howell
Much more disjointed than their previous effort, every song on this record is full of pull-and-release tension. It contains everything from fleet-fingered, pseudo-southern guitar lines ("Coming Back to Damnit") to a song in which U.s. Maple sounds like a nightmarish rock band at a carnival gone wrong ("Through with Six Six Six"). Strange funk interplays with abrupt drum fills, restrained whoops and hollers by Johnson, and brittle, shaking guitars ("Songs That Have No Making Out," "Missouri Twist"). Read More
