Record Turnout for Firemen’s Ball

A record turnout of just under 150 people to the Salmon Arm Firemen's Ball over the weekend heard that the departments' response time is still below the provincial average. 

Property damage in the fire protection area in 2009 was lower than a year ago.

The gala also recognized local dispatchers for their service.  It's being disbanded in May with dispatch to come out of Surrey.

There were 3 retirements announced from the Salmon Arm Volunteer force, made up of 77 paid on-call firefighters, 18 of them officers.

Salmon Arm has one of the largest volunteer departments in BC.
