Legacy Fund to go to New Golden Golf Course
Some of the Columbia Shuswap Regional Directors had reservations about voting in favour of lending the entire 1.2 million of the Whitetooth Legacy Fund to the Golden District Golf and Country Club to build another 18-hole golf course.
But Area A/Golden-Columbia Director Ron Oszust said the public knew from the beginning the legacy fund could be used for large projects...
..."The intent of that is that it creates a legacy in that there's a second golf course but it also returns those funds back to the community as another fund so this process can be a catalyst for another project." Says Oszust.
In the end only one director, Area E/Sicamous-Malakwa Director Rhona Martin voted against the loan. According to the agreement, no money has to be paid back the first two years, and payments then spread over the next six years to be completed by 2018.
